ALUMNI BANQUET CANCELED

We are sorry to report that on January 9, 2021 the SHS Alumni Association made a group decision to cancel the 2021 Alumni Banquet due to Coronavirus concerns/unknowns.

All of the classes that were supposed to be honored at the 2020 Alumni Banquet and the 2021 Alumni Banquet (1995 & 1996, 1990 & 1991, 1980 & 1981, 1970 & 1971, 1960 & 1961, 1950 & 1951, 1940 & 1941), will be honored next year at the 2022 Alumni Banquet on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Please help spread the word about the cancelation!

GIRLS STATE BASKETBALL

Springville vs. Algona Bishop Garrigan at 2 pm at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines,
Community Pep Rally: Info for a virtual pep rally will be sent out on Sunnday evening.
School cancelled Wednesday, March 3rd.
Basketball tickets: Springville is #8 seed & designated as AWAY team for March 3rd game. Tickets should be purchased in sections #112-#120. Tickets can be purchased at website:https://www.iowaeventscenter.com.
Masks are required at all times in Wells Fargo Arena. Spectators should enter doors on South Side of Arena.
Students wanting to sit in student section need to contact Mr. Martin for online ticket info.
Theme is: WHITE OUT. Shirts can be purchased at the school for $10. Contact Joe Martin at jmartin@springville.k12.is.us or 319-854-6196 ext. 1005. Sports Boosters is sponsoring a Pep Bus. No charge to ride bus. Students & children grades 5th & below must be accompanied by an adult.

ROAD CLOSED

NOTICE: Please avoid travelling in the area of Mill Ave. and J.R. Barnes Parkway on Friday 2/26/2021.

Public Works will be working on a water main issue in that area throughout the day.

Updates will be sent as available.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

UPDATE: Water pressure should return to normal shortly. Please make sure to run your faucets to until it runs clear before drinking or doing laundry to remove sediments that may have been loosened during the work. The water is safe to drink and does not need to be boiled.

RURAL HOUSING PROJECT SURVEY

SEDC is helping the City by participating in a Rural Housing Readiness Program. This group met with the Iowa State University Extension & Outreach along with MSA (engineering firm).
The first step in this process is to hear from the public. Please take a minute to go online and take the Rural Housing Plan Survey. You can also find the link on our Facebook page.
PDF copies are available at Security State Bank and City Hall. The completed surveys can be put in the drop box at City Hall.

DANGER

STAY OFF COX LAKE DUE TO THIN ICE
We have received reports of people out on the ice on Cox Lake. Due to the aerator, the ice is not solid

No-one is allowed on Cox Lake due to thin ice.

Please talk to your children and teenagers about how dangerous going out on the thin ice could be.

Their safety and the safety of our first responders is very important!

RECYCLING RATE INCREASE

Wapsi Waste Management has been hauling solid waste for the City of Springville since 2018.

Due to increased recycling costs, it is necessary to raise the cost of hauling $3.50 per month.

This increase will be reflected on the December 2020 utility bill.
