Wednesday, June 20th at 7:00 AM
5th St. N will be closed to thru traffic, local traffic only for the remainder of the project. This will also close the intersections of Mill Ave and Academy Street.
Monday, June 25th from 9:00AM-3:00PM
Water will be shut down. This will affect from the 5th St. bridge to 2nd Ave residents. Other residents will experience low pressure, possible stained water. Rain date will be Tuesday, June 26th.
We will continue to update you if there are any changes. You can check out our city website, Facebook, the public access channel.

Fireworks ONLY on the Fourth

Personal use of fireworks are allowed only on July 4th between the hours of 4PM and 11PM.
Springville Ordinance 03-2018 states that consumer fireworks (fire crackers, rockets, candles, whistlers, etc.) are banned for use within the City limits at any other time.
Using fireworks on public property is also prohibited. Please only use fireworks on private property.

Please help us keep Springville safe while we celebrate the birth of our nation this Fourth of July!

Novelty fireworks, such as snakes, poppers, and smokers are not banned.

2018 Street Resurfacing

The Annual street seal chip project will start Monday, June 11th.
They will be swept, patched and seal coated.
NO PARKING on these roads until the white rock is on the road.

ONE WAY

Monday, April 23rd, weather permitting, the 5th St Project will begin.
Due to the construction, 5th St. will become a ONE WAY street from the South (1st Ave) going North (bridge).
If at all possible, please avoid traveling on 5th St.

YARD WASTE

We have been receiving reports that the the Yard Waste Site usage is being violated.
Residents pay for the Yard Waste Site service on their water bills.
If you are a resident that is having work done and someone else will be using this site on your behalf, please contact City Hall at 319 854-6428 with this information.
Non-Residents need to haul their yard waste to the Landfill.

STREET CONSTRUCTION

Street contstruction on 5th Street will begin April 2018 and is expected to go through August 2018. The City is making improvements to the sewer and street.
If possible, avoid the area, please use Broadway during this time.

Ordinance 03 2018 Fireworks

Public Notice On June 12, 2018 Mayor Roger Shebetka of Springville, in the county of Linn in the state of Iowa, did sign Ordinance 03-2018, an ordinance amending the code of ordinances of the City of Springville, Iowa, 2016 by amending partially sections of Chapter 41. Ordinance 03-2018 defines classes of fireworks for consumer use and limits their use to private property on July 4th from the hours of 4PM until 11PM only.

TAGLESS TUESDAYS

Starting July 3, 2018 garbage pick up will be on Tuesdays.
Wapsi Waste is our new vendor and will not require tags. You can put out unlimited recycling and two(2) garbage cans per week (40 lb. limit). You can continue to use your current recycling bin.
The cost to you is $7.50 for garbage and recycling/yard waste will stay at $9.25. This will now be on your water bill, beginning on the August bill.

Ordinance 01-2018 sets the rates for service on water, sewer, recycling, and garbage as well as providing a mechanism for Council to increase rates annually to account for inflationary pressures.

CEMETERY DECORATIONS

It is Spring and time to clean up the Springville Cemetery.
Please remove any faded, worn and Holiday decorations from the Springville Cemetery.
No glass containers are permitted.
Planting of bushes, shrubs, trees, flowers, or plants is not allowed.
Easter Lillies and such decorations will be removed two weeks following Easter.
All floral arrangements without a vase will be removed two weeks following Memorial Day.
In order to be able to properly maintain the cemetery and looking good, please keep decorations to a minimum and no larger than 40 inches in width.

GOLF CART SEASON

It's golf cart season again in Springville!
Be sure to keep your eyes open for golf carts around town. Golf carts are energy efficient, cheaper to buy and maintain than regular cars, and a whole bunch of fun to drive. Springville licenses the use of golf carts, UTVs, and ATVs on city streets. These vehicles must have a slow moving vehicle sign and a safety flag at least 5 feet high.
To get or renew your license stop by City Hall or call 854-6428. Golf Cart Permits must be renewed/current in order to be driven in Springville.

5th Street Road Construction

Smooth, beautiful new roadway, high quality curbs, sidewalks, traffic safety improvements, better water supply, larger storm sewer capacity, and fancy new pedestrian lights making it safer for kids getting to school.

5th Street will be down to one lane for much of the construction. Some periods 5th Street will even be closed to through traffic.

Please be patient and drive safely with the construction and crews while Springville makes better and safer roads.
