under a Mayor/Council form of government, with five elected Council members and
an elected Mayor. A Municipal election occurs every two years, with
council positions filled in a staggered method. Officials are elected to a four
year term.
THE MAYOR:
Rick Heeren - Rick was elected to the Mayor's position
in November of 2009. Rick is a 20+ year resident of Springville, and is
CAD Operator & Designer, employed by Peterson Architects, North Liberty IA
His educational background includes: *Associate Degree of Applied
Science, Architectural Practices, Kirkwood Community College, *Emergency
Management Certifications, Fredricks Community College, Emmetsburg MD., *IS-00700
certification, National Incident Management System. (NIMS), *Emergency
Response to Terrorism Certificate, National Fire Academy Course.

As Mayor, Rick is dedicated to the economic improvement of the city of
Springville. His mission is to promote Springville to attract and retain
residents, businesses and agricultural industries, and support
Springville's large under appreciated treasure called our youth.
THE
COUNCIL:

Jeff Grimley
is currently serving
his second term on the city council, and was re-elected to a third term in 2007.
He is the senior council member for the 2008-2011 term.
Jeff is an Engineer with Rockwell Collins. He and his wife LeeAnn have two
children, Anna and Joe, both in college. The Grimley family is active in
many facets of the school, church & community. LeeAnn currently serves as School Board President. Jeff has previously
served on the library board.

Robin Ballantyne
was appointed to
fill a council vacancy, elected to fill
the remainder of
that term, and recently re-elected to serve a full four year term.
Robin has been a
Springville resident and the owner of Greenbriar Riding Academy since 1993. She
has two children, a son Selby and a daughter Riley. Robin and her kids
enjoy horses, camping and generally being outdoors. Robin has previously served
on Springville's Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
Robin enjoys being
involved in the community, and is interested in hearing from other people
about issues and ideas because she feels it is an important part of the job of
representing the citizens of the community.
Robin's current council term expires December 31, 2011.

Heather Neff was
elected in November of 2007 to her first 4 year term on the
Springville City Council.

Heather is a 9 year resident of
Springville.
She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Business Management from Bellevue University,
NE, & a Masters of Business Administration from St. Ambrose University, IA., and
Rockwell Collins in Strategy Development for Government Systems
Heather's community involvement in Springville includes past service as a
volunteer with the Springville Fire Department / *Emergency Medical
Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I) / *Medical Captain /*Fire Department Officer.
She is also involved with Springville Youth Sports and has served as
Softball and Basketball Coordinator / *Softball and Basketball Coach /
*Youth Sports Officer.

This is Roger's first term of service to the council.
Mary
Gerdemann
was elected to a four year term
in November of 2009 via write-in vote. This is Mary's first term of service to
the council. She previously served on Springville's Planning and Zoning
Commission. She is a 30+ year resident of Springville and a lifelong
resident of the Springville area. She and her husband Dean have three
adult children, all Springville graduates. She recently left her
employment after 23 years as a Computer Project Coordinator with a mass real
estate appraisal company. Mary's draw toward community service and
volunteerism is derived from her constant desire to do the right thing while
